The Town of Birch Hills is governed by elected officials that are made up of one Mayor and six Councillors.  The Town Office and Administration is your link to Council.  The staff is there to provide assistance to meet your needs and bring forth any issues to Council in a timely manner.

Council Procedures Bylaw

Council Meetings
Regular Meetings of Council are open to the public for viewing and are held on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month, with the exception of July, August and December.  The meetings are held at the Civic Centre in the Council Chambers located at 126 McCallum Avenue.  Meetings start at 7:00 pm.  It should be noted that any correspondence to Council must be submitted by 4:00 pm 2 days before the Council Meeting.

Speaking Before Council
Individuals or groups wishing to make a delegation on a topic directly to Council should contact the Town Office for a meeting appointment time.  Each delegation is required to fill out a Council Meeting Appointment Request Form and submit it to the Town Office no later than 4:00 pm 2 days before the Council Meeting.

Tips for presenting

  • Delegations are typically placed at the beginning of the agenda, unless a specific time is requested and granted by Council.
  • Presentations are limited to 15 minutes, excluding time to answer any questions put forward by Council.
  • Unless otherwise permitted, spokespersons should be limited to one individual
  • Please provide electronic copies of all required materials for discussion.
  • Councillors will ask only those questions which are relevant to the subject of the hearing and will avoid repetition.  Delegations speaking to the subject will be restricted to the subject matter only.
