2026 pick-up schedule – Garbage Calendar 2026<\/a><\/h4>\n

Garbage Roll-out Cart (brown)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

– Garbage collection days are every Wednesday<\/strong><\/em>
\n– Do not put garbage on top of lid or beside cart. Ensure that the lid is closed firmly
\n– On collection day place your cart out on the street by 7:00 am. If\u00a0possible, try to refrain from placing cart out the night before in order to\u00a0avoid vandalism
\n– Carts are to be returned to their usual storage place on the day of collection<\/p>\n

Recycling Roll-out Cart (blue)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

– Recycle collection days are every other Tuesday
\n– Recyclable materials consist of:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • MIXED PAPER & CARDBOARD<\/strong>: envelopes, magazines, catalogs,\u00a0paperbacks, writing paper, newspaper & corrugated cardboard<\/li>\n
  • PLASTIC & TIN<\/strong>: all household plastics and tins must be rinsed to\u00a0remove all food particles or detergent before they are put in the\u00a0blue bin. (please visit www.ncswmc.ca\/multi_recycling.php)
    \nMilk Jugs and Tetra Pac Juice Boxes are also accepted.
    \nABSOLUTELY NO NEEDLES<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Town Compost Pick-up – Biodegradable Bags Only <\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

    – Garden refuge\/Compost collection days are the first Wednesdays of\u00a0each month (weather permitting) \u2013 if it is raining the pick-up crew will\u00a0be out on the next available day
    \n– Compost pick-up season will run from approximately April \u2013 October\u00a0(depending on the snow)
    \n– Compost is: grass, leaves, tree clippings and branches
    \nABSOLUTELY NO CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL <\/span>AS IT IS NOT ACCEPTED AT THE SITE<\/span>
    \n– Please keep all\u00a0compostable paper bags and branches in a manageable size and weight\u00a0\u2013 if it is too heavy and awkward for you, it will be for the town\u00a0crew trying to load it in the truck
    \n– Loose material or material in plastic bags will not be picked up — compost must be bundled or in a\u00a0compostable paper\u00a0bag
    \n– Compost will be picked up in back alley with the exception of the East\u00a0Side of 5th Street from Stevens avenue\u00a0to the\u00a0South.<\/p>\n

    Clean up week (spring\/fall)<\/span><\/strong> – \u00a0**weather permitting have compostable material bundled and available for pick up in your back alley. Loose material will not be picked up. Only compostable paper bags are accepted.<\/p>\n

    Bylaw #16\/22 pertains to the collection of waste and other refuse within the Town of Birch Hills.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Policy #20-2022 pertains to the collection schedule. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    All provisions of the Bylaw will be enforced with fines<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    COMPOST SITE<\/h3>\n

    The Town landfill is no longer operated as a landfill.\u00a0 It is now strictly a compost site and the Town no longer accepts garbage refuse of any sort at the site.\u00a0 The compost site can be opened to Town residents for a fee of $15.00 per day and for non-residents for a fee of $75.00 per day.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
